OUR STORY

Our Story

The Backyard Boil started long before the trailer, the pop-ups, the catering events, or the followers.

It started with a dream, a whole lot of prayer, and a love for bringing people together around good food.

For years, we talked about building something of our own. Something that would allow us to serve people, love people, encourage people, and create moments that families and friends could enjoy together. What started as backyard conversations, test boils, recipe tweaks, and “one day” dreams slowly became something real.

We’re Sal and Crystal, the husband-and-wife team behind The Backyard Boil. Before this business became our full-time calling, we both spent years serving in other ways. Crystal serves as a registered nurse, caring for people in some of their most vulnerable moments when she’s not inside the trailer. I spent years in law enforcement and later as a plant operator. Those seasons taught us hard work, service, compassion, and the importance of treating people right.

When The Backyard Boil was born, we knew we wanted it to be more than just seafood.

Yes, we serve crawfish, shrimp, snow crab, Dungeness crab, lobster tails, sides, sauces, and snowballs. Yes, we care deeply about quality, consistency, flavor, and presentation. We measure, we prep, we plan, and we put our hearts into every pot we boil.

But our “why” has always been bigger than the food.

We believe food has a way of bringing people together. Around a table, people slow down. They laugh. They talk. They make memories. They celebrate birthdays, graduations, weddings, family gatherings, church events, and milestones that matter.

That is what we love being part of.

From day one, our goal has been to make people feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Whether you’re walking up to our trailer window, booking us for a private catering event, or just stopping by for a snowball and a quick conversation, we want you to feel like more than just a customer.

We want you to feel seen.

Our faith is a big part of who we are. We believe God has given us this platform for more than selling seafood. He has given us an opportunity to encourage, uplift, speak life, and remind people that they matter. That’s why you’ll see us post about kindness, mental health, grace, family, faith, and loving people well.

Because to us, The Backyard Boil is not just a business.

It’s a calling.

We’re not perfect. We miss the mark sometimes. We make mistakes. We learn as we go. But one thing will never change… we care deeply. We care about the food we serve, the people we meet, the communities that welcome us, and the relationships built along the way.

Every like, share, comment, line, catering event, kind word, and bit of feedback has helped shape this journey. We are humbled by the support and grateful for every opportunity to serve.

The Backyard Boil exists to bring bold Southern-style seafood to your table, but more than that, we exist to bring people together.

Good food.
Good people.
Good memories.

That’s our heart.

That’s our story.
